“Redeeming” the F-word

Profanity. The mere idea stands in opposition to biblical Christianity. Paul urged the Ephesians, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths” (Ephesians 4:29). Again, “Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking” (5:4). It seems obvious: Christians simply do not use that kind of language.

Of course, what we know intellectually does not always translate into how we behave practically. It is not unheard of for a Christian in our day and age to speak in a manner that does not adorn the gospel of Christ. Recognising this, a blogger over at Toward Conservative Christianity somewhat humorously imagines a day in which the F-word will be used Christianly.

I imagine a day, in the not too distant future, in which Christians will be talking about how the F-word can be used for the glory of God. The arguments will proceed along these lines:
